Around Bahawalpur

After seeing the palaces and other attractions in Bahawalpur, a tourist should also visit some important places around the city. A visit to Bahawalpur isn’t complete without visiting the subsequent places:

1) Uch Sharif

Uch Sharif, the oldest living city in Pakistan is a beautiful historical site for tourists and is located some 75 KM from Bahawalpur. It’s located between Sutlej and Chenab. The interesting part about Uch Sharif is that different historians have narrated different stories about the city. It’s said that the town existed before the reign of Bikramajit, while others say Uch Sharif was under Hindus before the invasion of Alexander. What makes Uch Sharif so beautiful and attractive are the shrines and tombs. However, Uch Sharif is split into three sections; each section is called over the famous rulers who ruled here. Uch Bukhari is known as Hazrat Jalaluddin Bukhari, Uch Jilani is called Hazrat Sheikh M Ghaus Qadri, and Uch Mughalian is known after the various Mughal rulers.

2) The Cholistan Desert

The Cholistan desert has been an interesting tourist attraction for decades. It’s situated some 30 KM from Bahawalpur and covers a region of around 16000 Square KM. Visiting Cholistan gives exposure to the desert life and acquaintance with the culture of the semi-nomadic people living there. Cholistan jeep rally has been a well-liked event for the past decade, that takes place within the first two months of the year (January and February). Contestants bring the simplest of the jeeps to compete. The contestants come from everywhere in Pakistan and abroad. This event is considered because of the event of the elite. There’s also a rainforest in the Cholistan named Dodhla forest.

3) Derawar Fort

Derawar Fort is located in the Cholistan Desert and is situated at a distance of about 100 KM from the city of Bahawalpur. This fort is sort of 800 years old and is still in very fine condition. Derawar fort is still guarded by the personal guards of Amir of Bahawalpur. Tombs of various rulers and their family members exist there. The tombs are covered in Blue tiled work which seems fantastic. The permission of the nawab is required before entering the fort. The fort was decorated in carved sandstone. There are 40 bastions that surround this fort in an exceedingly square (10 on each side). These are 30 meters high. An overnight stay in the fort is a lifetime experience.

4) Lal Suhanra park

Lal Suhanra national park located in Bahawalpur district is one of the most important national parks in South Asia and perhaps the most important in Pakistan. Its contact 153000 acres consists of desert, forest, and a natural lake. It features watch towers, catching grounds, tourist huts (TDCP), rest houses, and camping sites. The key attraction of this park is the lion safari, which allows the tourists to see lions in their natural habitat at close range. The pair of Rhinoceros, gifted by the government of Nepal is a major temptation for the visitors. Jackals, black buck, nilgai, hares, porcupines, fox, mongoose, larks, owls, and hawks are housed in the park. Besides, a special system of breeding is taken care of for over 400 species of animals and birds living in the park. Hunting is strictly forbidden.

بہاولپور کے آس پاس

بہاولپور میں محلات اور دیگر پرکشش مقامات کو دیکھنے کے بعد سیاح کو شہر کے آس پاس کے چند اہم مقامات کا دورہ بھی کرنا چاہیے۔ بہاولپور کا سفر درج ذیل مقامات کی سیر کے بغیر مکمل نہیں ہوتا۔

نمبر1) اچ شریف

اوچ شریف، پاکستان کا قدیم ترین زندہ شہر سیاحوں کے لیے ایک خوبصورت تاریخی مقام ہے اور یہ بہاولپور سے 75 کلومیٹر کے فاصلے پر واقع ہے۔ یہ ستلج اور چناب کے درمیان واقع ہے۔ اوچ شریف کے بارے میں دلچسپ بات یہ ہے کہ مختلف مورخین نے اس شہر کے بارے میں مختلف کہانیاں بیان کی ہیں۔ کہا جاتا ہے کہ یہ قصبہ بکرماجیت کے دور سے پہلے سے موجود تھا، جب کہ دوسرے کہتے ہیں کہ سکندر کے حملے سے پہلے اوچ شریف ہندوؤں کے زیر تسلط تھا۔ اوچ شریف کو جو چیز بہت خوبصورت اور دلکش بناتی ہے وہ مزارات اور مقبرے ہیں۔ تاہم، اُچ شریف کو تین حصوں میں تقسیم کیا گیا ہے۔ ہر حصے کا نام یہاں پر حکومت کرنے والے مشہور حکمرانوں پر رکھا گیا ہے۔ اُچ بخاری کا نام حضرت جلال الدین بخاری کے نام پر رکھا گیا ہے، اُوچ جیلانی کا نام حضرت شیخ ایم غوث قادری اور اُوچ مغلیاں کا نام مختلف مغل حکمرانوں کے نام پر رکھا گیا ہے۔

نمبر2) صحرائے چولستان

چولستان کا صحرا کئی دہائیوں سے سیاحوں کی توجہ کا مرکز رہا ہے۔ یہ بہاولپور سے 30 کلومیٹر کے فاصلے پر واقع ہے اور تقریباً 16000 مربع کلومیٹر کے رقبے پر محیط ہے۔ چولستان کا دورہ کرنے سے صحرائی زندگی کا پتہ چلتا ہے اور وہاں رہنے والے نیم خانہ بدوش لوگوں کی ثقافت سے واقفیت ہوتی ہے۔ چولستان جیپ ریلی گزشتہ دہائی سے ایک مقبول تقریب رہی ہے، جو سال کے پہلے دو مہینوں (جنوری اور فروری) میں ہوتی ہے۔ مقابلہ کرنے والے مقابلہ کرنے کے لیے بہترین جیپیں لاتے ہیں۔ مقابلہ کرنے والے پورے پاکستان اور بیرون ملک سے آتے ہیں۔ اس واقعہ کو اشرافیہ کا واقعہ سمجھا جاتا ہے۔ چولستان میں ایک بارانی جنگل بھی ہے جس کا نام دودلہ جنگل ہے۔

نمبر3) دراوڑ قلعہ

قلعہ ڈیراوڑ صحرائے چولستان میں واقع ہے اور بہاولپور شہر سے تقریباً 100 کلومیٹر کے فاصلے پر واقع ہے۔ یہ قلعہ تقریباً 800 سال پرانا ہے اور اب بھی ٹھیک حالت میں ہے۔ قلعہ دراوڑ آج بھی بہاولپور کے امیر کے ذاتی محافظوں کی حفاظت میں ہے۔ وہاں مختلف حکمرانوں اور ان کے خاندان کے افراد کے مقبرے موجود ہیں۔ مقبرے نیلے رنگ کے ٹائل کے کام سے ڈھکے ہوئے ہیں جو لاجواب لگتا ہے۔ قلعہ میں داخل ہونے سے پہلے نواب کی اجازت درکار ہوتی ہے۔ قلعہ کو سنگ تراشی سے سجایا گیا تھا۔ اس قلعے کے چاروں طرف 40 گڑھ ہیں ۔ یہ 30 میٹر اونچے ہیں۔ قلعہ میں رات کا قیام زندگی بھر کا تجربہ ہے۔

نمبر4) لال سوہانرا نیشنل پارک

ضلع بہاولپور میں واقع لال سوہانرا نیشنل پارک جنوبی ایشیا کے سب سے بڑے قومی پارکوں میں سے ایک ہے اور شاید پاکستان کا سب سے بڑا پارک ہے۔ یہ 153000 ایکڑ پر پھیلا ہوا صحرا، جنگل اور قدرتی جھیل پر مشتمل ہے۔ اس میں واچ ٹاورز، کیچنگ گراؤنڈز، اور ٹورسٹ ہٹس (ٹی ڈی سی پی)، ریسٹ ہاؤس اور کیمپنگ سائٹس شامل ہیں۔ اس پارک کی سب سے بڑی کشش شیروں کی سفاری ہے جو سیاحوں کو اپنے قدرتی مسکن میں شیروں کو قریب سے دیکھ سکتی ہے۔ نیپال کی حکومت کی طرف سے تحفے میں دی گئی گینڈے کی جوڑی سیاحوں کے لیے ایک بڑا فتنہ ہے۔ گیدڑ، کالے ہرن، نیلگئی، خرگوش، پورکیپائن، لومڑی، منگوز، لارک، الّو اور ہاکس بھی پارک میں رکھے گئے ہیں۔ اس کے علاوہ پارک میں رہنے والے جانوروں اور پرندوں کی 400 سے زائد اقسام کی افزائش نسل کا ایک خاص نظام رکھا جاتا ہے۔ شکار سختی سے منع ہے۔
